Hi,
Just found your website by accident. My husband got into geneology about 15 years ago. He's done both his and mine. We are both descended from the Acadians. (Barely knew of their existence before his research.) My maiden name was Girouard and my mother was Breault but I have both Hebert brothers (Francoise and Etienne) and Louis (from the Quebec line) in my ancestry. Louis Joliet is also one of my great---grandfathers and Blessed Marie Leone Paradis share a great--grandfather (Alexis Breault) but I never figured out how she and I are related.
I am also related to many, many of the names you mentioned.
Have you ever been to any of the Acadian reunions? We went to Nova Scotia in 2004 and New Brunswick in 2009. By the way I was born in RI (fantastic French Geneology Library In Woonsocket!) but now live in Texas so I'm not a Cajun but Alexis Breault's son Fermin was the one who went to LA and settled at Breault Bridge. I'm descended from Fermin's brother Charles who was born in Hingham, MA but returned to Quebec with his family. I didn't know that Alexis and Marguerite were separated for 4 years! Thanks.
                 We must be related somehow,
                     Your cousin, Jackie

I'm from Sorel in Québec province. For a long time I'm searching the place and date of the mariage of Joseph Bonin and Emélie Houle. Emélie parents were Michel Houle and Geneviève Cartier où came from St-Aimé, Qc and arrived in the 1850-60 in St-Louis couty Minnesota. In Census 1860 Emélie was still single, and in Census 1880, she was widow in Anoka County. She is burried in Centervile. My problem is with Joseph Bonin. I know that this couple (Bonin-Houle)had 6-7 children, perhaps born in WI and MO. You will be very find the refer me to a person who can help me finding this famous mariage. Thank you

I was amazed at how many of the same people we are related to, until I read that you great grandmother was
a LORD. My great grandmother was Bernadette LORD who married Harvey BROUILLETTE. Bernadette's family came from Acadia and Harvey's came from Quebec. I'm related to all the same families you mentioned but maybe 1 or 2.

Enjoyed your story!

Miles Luke,
I am the great grandson of Hyacinthe Villeneuve. I was happy to see that you provided the history article to the heritage center of Minnesota. It also gave me a contact with that side of the family. Of course you know that Hyacinthe had a different mother than your grandfather, so they were actually half brothers in the legal sense but brothers non the less. But that is not the point of my message, the point is to exchange some family info on the two families. I have a lot of info on the Hyacinthe family and his ancestors, but have little info on your side of the Villeneuves (Newtons). Please contact me at the e-mail above so we can explore our families more in depth.

I am researching Angelique (Gobin) Gervais b between 1820-1828 m Alphonse Gervais. Her Father was Joseph Gobin. Her Mother was Aloisia Godon. Her sister Margarete married Bazil Gervais. The Gervais' Father was Benjamin Gervais. I found Aloisia's name and remarriage to Joseph Gobin in a 1866 Baptismal Book at a little church in Centerville Mn. I would like to have more information on Joseph Gobin and Aloisia Godon. I have found that they are from the Pembina tribe of the Chippewa. But am having trouble with their ancestors. Can you help me on this? If so how best should I go about this? Rachel Johnson
